I am committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability, ensuring that our students receive the quality education that they deserve. I will work collaboratively with district and school leaders, families, and youth to support equitable policies and practices that contribute to healthy schools and improved educational opportunities for all our children. I will make data-driven decisions and take effective actions to enhance students' academic and social success. Additionally, I will prioritize culturally relevant opportunities for our diverse student body and their families.
By offering a variety of programs and services, community schools can address the needs of the entire community and promote a sense of belonging which will help our students excel. Through shared decision-making and collaborative efforts, I intend to promote and support the implementation of a community school model for our district schools to improve our students’ educational experience, elevate our educators’ teaching experience, and strengthen the overall well-being of our community. Thankfully, the leaders of our district recognized the value in this many years ago and started laying the foundation for making Creighton Elementary School District a trusted and responsive anchor institution in our community.
Our school boards are the last line of defense in keeping the dual language model in our public schools. While some districts might have caved-in to Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne’s targeted threats and intimidation, the Creighton governing board has held to our community's values and done what’s right by keeping our two dual language schools open. I helped start, and now lead, monthly meet-ups for supporters of Dual Language public education statewide and have publicly spoken out in opposition to Horne’s unjust lawsuits brought against our district. As a school board member, I will continue to hold the line for our families.
